Important news: Save Babylonia!
Hello,As some of you already know, as a consequence of our computer hacking or cracking, and her credit card stolen, the person who pays babylonia told me that will not use her credit cards through internet any longer, therefore, if she doesn't change her mind, we would not keep sl-babylonia.Right now, I cannt commit on further payments as I still don't know my earnings in September. And I am also scared about hackers or crackers.Oscatel has suggested to downsize temporarily elsewhere if the current island finally closes.Maybe there are other options. As a first step, we could save our buildings into our inventories.I don't know how often I could access to internet until September, but I think I could use e-mail, at least from time to time. Please, e-mail me, and don't be scared if I don't reply soon. I will love to hear from you all. Thanks.Have great holidays and see you after them !

Hi all,
What a shock to hear we might have to close the island down! Huub and Miroirs told me about it and now I read Carmens post.
If we need to make money we could sell the items in the store for 1 L$. And we could rent some houses for ppl to live in. We made sell the tings we made ourselves, like the furniture I made.
If we need real money maybe all (or some) of the residents could share the costs and pay what is needed.

I only read this news yesterday, i should look more often at this website...
This is quit bad news 
Just some thoughts/ ideas:
- An island costs 295 dollar per month, It's almost impossible to pay that even with more people... (lots of money!) Maybe someone else can pay by credit card, if the original owner wants to pay to that person? http://secondlife.com/community/land-islands.php
- I looks like it's possible to own land with a group: http://secondlife.com/whatis/landpricing.php. So if some people are prepared to take a Premium Membership 9,95 dollar per month (it's 7,23 euro at this moment) we can start all over again. I personally don't like to pay for internet games or other internet stuff, but if other people wants to help i maybe do it...
Maybe it's even possible to split a membership in 2 parts, so it's 3,60 euro per month? I think it's also possible to start small, and if we like it expand it later... - An other possibillity is to find a new chat place, (maybe even IRC or MSN... but I like SL more)...

Well, i guess what we need most to find a solution is more information.... Nobody seems to actually know what exactly has happened or will be happening or what will be possible...
some thoughts on the scale-back-to less-land idea: since you can just rent land from third parties without going premium in sl, I think that would be a more handy option, as long as you go with a respectable company... I rent my place from the Otherland group, and never had a problem with it so far...and it doesn't require people going premium (thus paying extra to be able to pay 
) to help out....
about other chat places: it's just not the same
about island costs: It will not necessarily be easy, but other groups manage to pull this off, why shouldn't we 
We might have to rent out some stuff etc though...
but then again, we can't do much till we get more info.... if anyone in touch with the "real" owners could direct them to this page, or invitet hem for a chat to clear things out, I think that would be valuable :-)

what exactly is meant by "as a consequence of our computer hacking or cracking"? I didn't know we did any of that (maybe the our is redundant in the text?) Any case, contrary to popular belief, credit card data might be safer "on the internet" then when you physically hand one over, since they are so easily (one swipe through a reader) copied, though I understand this observation doesn't forward our cause....
I think it would be feasible with some (eventually supported with some commercial initiatives 
) to pay tier for it...
Downsizing or whatever are options, but still needs someone paying for it, so someone should have to give his/her CC details anyway, downsizing only lowers the costs, and if I understand correctly the problem is more due to insecurity of creditcard transactions then cost? Any case, I can offer my land for use, but this is a "residential" area, so though people visiting etc will noit be really a problem, there are some restrictions on buidling style etc.... Though in an emergency case we could just gather there to keep the "community" alive....
A possible solution to the creditcard problem may be the usage of "temporary" creditcards: you buy them, and you can "recharge" the card regularly, so if the card gets comrpomised, no big damage can be done since only the credit stored on the card can be gone. Also paypal could be an option?
Any idea when payments will seize? Since eg an ownership transfer of the island or stuff like that can take some time, and I guess we want things sort of sorted out before everything vanishes from underneath us
